Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Boating Lake Manager, the Boating Staff coordinates with the Manager regarding all aspects of the Student Association Boating Lake program, including boating activities & boating lake emergency procedures. The Boating Staff ensures a safe paddling environment, as well as help participants load and unload boats, give paddling instructions and provided all necessary oversite of participants.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current lifeguard certification preferred
  • ACA Small craft safety certification or experience required.
  • Experience in paddle sport activities.
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR, AED
  • Ability to make decisions and act wisely in emergencies.
  • Ability to observe participant behavior, assess its appropriateness, supplement enforcement of appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups
  • Desire and ability to work in an outdoor setting.
  • Interact with participants, staff, and community in a positive, professional manner.
  • Serve as a positive role-model for participants, and other staff.
  • Adjust, modify own behavior, and remain flexible and tolerant in response to changing situations and environments.
  • Patience and capacity to show interest and compassion for every participant and fellow staff member.
  • Commitment to assuring that the diversity of participants and staff is appreciated. Flexibility in working with participants and staff from all socio-economic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be available for full duration of employment.
