Job Description

Position: Network Engineer II ( Citizen/GC only)

Location: Kansas City, KS 

Duration: 6+ months

Rate : DOE

Description:

We currently have a position for a Network Engineer II with our direct client in Kansas City, KS for a 6 month with extensions contract.

Responsibilities:

Designs LAN, Campus and WAN infrastructure for data, voice, and wireless services following industry standards and best practices to ensure high availability and scalability through network design principals. Assists level III's in advanced level design, development, installation, administration, and maintenance of the enterprise network.

Performs as a subject matter expert (SME) providing 2nd level support for all network operations performance engineering, implementation planning, deployment support, network security and capacity related incidents.

Responsible for maintaining service availability of mission critical services ensuring 24/7/365 uptime of network systems. Collaborates with other network engineers on supporting the network infrastructure design and development to ensure stability and high availability of critical medical systems.

Monitors network performance and capacity utilizing network tools and system logs and proactively resolves any issues. 

Maintains documentation including networking diagrams and network services descriptions for the WAN and LAN network. Develop and write processes and procedures for installation and configuration of network systems or troubleshooting of network communications hardware or software.

Plays a primary role mentoring level I network engineers in technical design, capacity planning, and network security. Works in a mentor role with co-workers to provide on job training for a more stable environment. Mentors level I engineers to develop their knowledge base.

Demonstrates the ability to implement new technologies.

Extensive hands on support of network routers, switches, and wireless controllers. Implements new approaches and shares technical improvements to the Network Manager. 

Displays advanced knowledge and understanding of networking protocols and technologies including IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and technologies including Switching, Routing, Wireless and Security in a multi data center design and development network environment. 

Acts as escalation contact for level I working on complex network break/fix and/or maintenance assignments related to network access, capacity or performance.  

Keeps abreast and informed of current IT technologies and new trends in the industry by attending vendor training and product launch events.

Ensures approved procedures, policies, and industry best practices are followed. Adheres to departmental policies and procedures.

Monitors and executes in line with department change control processes.

High School Diploma or GED required 

Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in IT or related field preferred.

4 to 7years of experience in IT field required

CCNA required
