What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary: The Construction Manager is generally responsible for total delivery of services safely, on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations on moderately complex projects. Work at this level requires progressive experience in construction management and involves utilization of project controls for cost, schedule and quality of projects. This work will be performed under minimal supervision in Conroe, TX.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Familiarity with and utilizing department standards.

  • Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a task.

  • Extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements, with a commitment to a zero accidents environment. Ability to ensure contractor's activities are planned and executed with safety first.

  • Responsible for the safe performance of all contractors on the assigned project.

  • Consulting with design leaders, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality of technical contractual activities on one or more projects of various sizes.

  • Promoting continued relationships with clients.

  • Participating in field construction efforts, design phase services and all subcontracting as well as participating in all major technical, cost, scheduling and performance decisions.

  • Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.

  • Providing on-site assistance during startup.

  • Coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.

  • Consulting with design leaders to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project.

  • Advising the senior engineer concerning design or scope changes, which have been identified.

  • Reviewing and checking vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for input.

  • Reviewing construction specifications.

  • Reviewing fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Coordinating contractor activities to avoid lost time due to problem resolutions or lack of direction.

  • Monitoring contractor resource assignments to ensure that the correct numbers of resources are assigned to the work.

Ideal Background

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is highly preferred.

Licensing: General Contractors License is highly preferred.

Experience: Requires a minimum 7 years of relevant industrial mechanical construction management or project related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
