Wire Draw Operator: Freeport, Illinois
Our customer in Freeport, Illinois is seeking dependable and safety-focused individuals to join their team as a Wire Draw Operator. We're recruiting for a full-time, 1st shift position. As a Wire Draw Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating wire drawing machines, monitoring production quality, recording production data, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.
 
Responsibilities of the Wire Draw Operator:
  • Comply with all safety requirements, participate in safety programs, and maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Complete all required training programs and actively participate in team meetings.
  • Install and feed progressively smaller dies into wire drawing machines to achieve required wire diameter specifications.
  • Load and thread wire through machinery and around take-up reels.
  • Start, operate, monitor, and adjust machines to regulate speed, temperature, and production output.
  • Secure roller dies and make machine adjustments as required for production runs.
  • Record production information accurately in computerized and/or manual systems.
  • Inspect product quality throughout the production process and immediately report any non-conformances to supervision.
  • Operate forklifts for material handling and product movement as needed.
  • Perform daily safety and mechanical checks to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Report equipment issues promptly to maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with additional duties and responsibilities as needed to support production goals.
Wire Draw Operator Requirements and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate Windows-based software systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with team members.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet production deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and adjusted schedules when needed.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Consistent attendance and reliability required.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
 
Pay for Wire Draw Operator: $18.50/hour.
