Wire Mill Operator  FLSA Status: HourlyISO_QF 7201_Production – Metal Fabrication Major Job Duties and TEK Levels:Position Summary:The Wire Mill Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating wire-drawing and wire-processing equipment in a manufacturing environment. This position ensures that wire is produced according to established specifications for size, quality, and finish while maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work area.The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working around industrial machinery. Key ResponsibilitiesOperate wire mill, wire-drawing and related manufacturing equipment.Set up machines and equipment according to production specifications and work instructions.Monitor machine operation and make routine adjustments to maintain proper production rates and product quality.Inspect wire throughout the manufacturing process for diameter, surface condition, straightness, finish, and other required specifications.Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.Identify and report equipment problems, product defects, and unusual operating conditions.Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, tooling changes, and basic preventive maintenance as required.Safely handle raw materials, finished wire, tooling, and production equipment.Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records.Follow work orders, production schedules, process specifications, and quality requirements.Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and company standards.Follow all company safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Communicate production issues, quality concerns, and equipment conditions to supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other team members. Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.Ability to lift and move materials and tooling within the limits established by company safety procedures.          Ability to wear required PPE, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.          Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where there may be noise, heat, dust, oils, and moving machinery. Competencies and Authorities:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous manufacturing or production experience is preferred but not required.Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift for extended periods.Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn manufacturing processes.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Strong attendance, dependability, and teamwork skills. Certification: Certified Forklift Operations preferred, but training available upon hiring. Work Environment:This position is performed in a manufacturing/industrial plant environment. Employees may be exposed to operating machinery, elevated noise levels, metal products, lubricants, and varying temperatures. Strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements is required at all times.
