Job description

SURTECO specializes in the production and sale of laminates, foils and vinyl-coated fabrics. Our technologies, products and services deliver distinctive performance features, thus helping to support our Customers’ reputations for trusted brands around the globe and in a wide variety of markets.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.

The Intermediate Plant Utility Operator will be trained on multiple jobs in the facility to support vacations, vacancies, and absenteeism. The Utility Operator may fill in when there is an open job on the production floor if the Shift Coordinator deems necessary. The jobs would include but not limited to mix operator, wind up operator, mill operator, and plant utility. The exception would be to ensure that the customer receives 100% quality material.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform and document fork lift and crane inspections
  • Clean up and maintain work area
  • Stay current on the job to maintain skills
  • Fill in for jobs where needed and qualified. The Shift Coordinator will request the tasks as necessary.
  • The tasks may include but not limited to:
    • Cleaning
    • Housekeeping
    • Painting
    • Mix Operator
    • Wind-up Operator
    • Mill Operator
    • Finishing department
    • Relief Operator
    • Edge Banding Operator
    • Color Room Operator

Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability & Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Complete orientation, safety training and skill verification
  • Properly fitted Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) 
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs


Work Environment and Environmental Conditions

  • Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment
  • Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc. 
  • Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smell
  • Exposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditions
  • No travel is required
