What is wide format printing?

Wide format printing refers to the process of printing on materials that are too large for standard commercial printing presses, typically with widths ranging from 18 inches up to several feet. This method is commonly used for producing banners, posters, signs, vehicle wraps, and other large graphics. Wide format printers use specialized inks and media to create high-resolution, durable prints suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The technology allows for fast turnaround times and customization, making it a popular choice for marketing, advertising, and event displays.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wide format printing specialist?

To thrive as a Wide Format Printing Specialist, you need a solid understanding of print production processes, color management, and experience with large-format printers, typically supported by a background in graphic design or print technology. Familiarity with RIP software, Adobe Creative Suite, and various printing substrates is commonly required for this role. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication with clients and team members are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure high-quality output, efficient workflow, and customer satisfaction in a deadline-driven print environment.

What are some common challenges faced in a wide format printing role, and how can they be addressed?

In wide format printing, professionals often encounter challenges such as color consistency across large prints, managing tight deadlines for client projects, and maintaining complex printing equipment. Addressing these challenges involves regularly calibrating printers, closely following color management protocols, and implementing preventive maintenance schedules. Effective communication with the design team and clients also helps to clarify expectations and minimize errors, ensuring high-quality results and timely project delivery.

Job description

Instant Imprints – Bonita Springs, FL
At Instant Imprints, we help businesses bring their brands to life through custom apparel, signs, vehicle graphics, promotional products, printing, and marketing materials. We're looking for a creative, hands-on team member who enjoys graphic design but is also willing to jump in wherever needed to help support daily operations.

This is not a traditional Graphic Design position. While design is a key part of the role, we're looking for someone who enjoys variety, likes staying busy, and wants to be involved in multiple areas of the business.

THIS POSITION IS ON-SITE IN BONITA SPRINGS, FL. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.

What You'll Do

• Lead our in-house Art Department, overseeing the design and production of branded materials from concept through final execution.
• Create compelling, creative designs for print, signage, apparel, promotional products, and marketing materials that exceed client expectations.
• Develop production-ready artwork with careful consideration for materials, production methods, budgets, and installation requirements.
• Prepare accurate proofs and production files while maintaining high standards for quality and attention to detail.
• Design and maintain marketing materials, internal graphics, templates, and other creative assets for both client and company projects.
• Collaborate closely with sales, production, and customer service team members to ensure projects move smoothly from concept to completion.
• Communicate professionally with clients regarding artwork, proofs, revisions, project requirements, and timelines.
• Help manage project workflow to ensure jobs are completed accurately, on time, and within budget.
• Assist with creative brainstorming, client design consultations, and solution development for new and existing projects.
• Be willing to learn and support additional areas of the business as needed, including customer service, production assistance, project coordination, and general store operations.
• Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment where flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to jump in and help are valued.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to support the success of the store and team.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a creative, dependable team member who enjoys design, collaboration, and being part of a growing small business. While graphic design will be the primary focus of this role, we value team players who are curious, adaptable, and willing to learn different aspects of the company. From supporting customers and collaborating with production to helping keep projects moving smoothly, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of areas and make a meaningful impact on our team's success.

If you're looking for a remote design position, this role is not the right fit - this is a 100% in-person position here at our Store in Bonita Springs. If you enjoy creativity, variety, problem-solving, and being part of a small team where no two days are the same, we'd love to meet you.
