Your Specific Responsibilities:

Provides WIC enrollment services โ€“ interviewing potentially eligible clients.  Accurately and appropriately entering all WIC information into FL-WiSE. Ensures duplicate clients are not created and if a duplicate is determined, follows procedures to get duplicate removed. Schedules clients with the appropriate appointment type for all eligible members of a family.

Performs WIC benefits issuance โ€“ Orients new clients to WIC providing information on rights and obligations, use of WIC EBT card, policies and procedures, and WIC clinic operations. Schedules return appointments. Informs clients of their need for recertification information wen required according to the program guidelines.

Performs administrative duties โ€“ Answers telephone in a timely manner and returns calls. Maintains accurate inventories, including special formula and WIC EBT cards. Issues breast pumps according to local WIC protocol and re-evaluates loaned double pumps monthly according to policy.

Obtains anthropometric and hematological data from clients as needed for all appointment types. Obtains immunization data and reviews for accuracy. Refers clients to other social services as requested.

  • Ability to work effectively with a health care team to maintain an effective working relationship
  • Ability to perform procedures common to the position
  • Ability to recognize areas of own practice that need improvement
  • Ability to teach clients in the program

  • Knowledge of clinical and program practices, policies and procedures and ability to apply them
  • Computer knowledge and ability to include state software programs and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of leadership skills
  • Knowledge to recognize situations in which intervention is needed to improve clinic efficiency

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Willingness to provide coverage at all Nassau WIC sites
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License
  • Ability to lift at least 35 pounds

Preferred:

  • Previous or current employment with WIC
  • Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred
