Civil Defense Litigation Legal Assistant

Location: San Diego, CA (In Person)

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Defense Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys handling personal injury defense and general liability matters. The ideal candidate will have a stable work history, excellent organizational skills, and extensive experience managing litigation matters in a fast-paced defense practice.

Responsibilities
  • Support attorneys in all phases of civil litigation, from case inception through trial.

  • Prepare, file, and serve legal documents with state and federal courts.

  • Maintain attorney calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates.

  • Assist with discovery, document production, and case file management.

  • Coordinate trial preparation, including exhibits, witness files, trial binders, and logistics.

  • Draft and proofread legal correspondence and other litigation-related documents.

  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and vendors.

  • Maintain organized case files and ensure all deadlines are met.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Civil Defense Litigation Legal Assistant or Litigation Assistant.

  • Experience supporting attorneys in personal injury defense and/or general liability matters.

  • Strong experience with filing, calendaring, and trial preparation.

  • Stable employment history, preferably with 5+ years at the same firm.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
