SFCC- Whiteman AFB is looking for qualified candidates to teach various disciplines and build an adjunct pool to utilize as needed for the Whiteman AFB campus. Possible disciplines needed include: Art, College/Computer Skills, Communications/Public Speaking, Criminal Justice, Education, English/Composition/Literature, Geography, History/Government, Math, Medical Terminology, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Science, and Theatre. Candidates will need to be available to teach in-person at the Whiteman AFB Campus, but there may be an opportunity to continue in the hybrid format (part online) if desired.
In most situations, a candidate possesses a Master's degree in the field/discipline they wish to teach. Resumes and transcripts must be attached to application (unofficial transcripts permitted). Please share any experience with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and Zoom. If there's not a current need, applicants will be placed into a pool for consideration as classes are added to the schedule. The person in this position will be responsible for duties related to teaching as an adjunct faculty. Internet instruction may be required.
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
  • Course instruction in specific discipline at the Whiteman AFB campus, which may include one to two classes each semester based on student demand and instructor availability
  • Follow Lead Instructor's syllabus template and required learning outcomes
  • Utilize any required textbook(s) and/or publisher software (training provided)
  • Utilize technology (including Canvas LMS, Starfish, etc.)
  • Grade book/feedback up-to-date within 1 week
  • Timely response to student emails
  • Meet attendance reporting and final grade entry deadlines
  • ILO/data reporting to Lead Instructor/Division as requested
  • Maintain communication with Lead Instructor and Whiteman AFB Campus Director
  • May require 1 visit to the Sedalia campus for a summer department meeting

The preceding duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
  • Master's degree or minimum 18 graduate hours in desired field/discipline
  • Must be available to teach in-person at the Whiteman AFB campus
  • Prior teaching experience at the college level preferred
  • Have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction.
  • Ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner.
  • Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess an understanding of the range of needs community college students represent.
  • Possess a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
  • Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology.

This position pays $675 per credit hour.
