WAGE RANGE: $50K-$60K

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing management and oversight of the Hamley's Saddle Shop operations including; production of all leather goods, supervising Saddle shop staff, ordering and inventorying supplies for the Saddle shop, and working with Store Manager to produce leather goods that promote Hamley's brand.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Responsible for maintaining the operational budget, including supply orders, inventory, labor costs, tools, and equipment.
  2. Ensures that all leather work carries and promotes the distinct Hamley's brand.
  3. Will establish quality par levels of leather goods for sale in the store.
  4. Responsible for developing all Saddle Shop employees, providing hands-on instruction, and production of trophy saddles, western saddles, saddle accessories, tack, small leather goods, and repair.
  5. Coordinates with Saddle makers to complete saddle orders, repairs, custom designs, and par level of new saddles for sale in the store.
  6. Administers the inventory for the saddle shop, including ordering supplies and materials, tools, and equipment, monthly production reports, and ensuring the production of leather goods needed for the store.
  7. Supervise Saddle shop staff, including hiring, firing, scheduling, approving leave, conducting performance coaching, counseling, and evaluations.
  8. Works with the Store Manager to provide leather goods that sell and promote interest in Hamley's brand.
  9. Works with Store Manager to assist in buying for the tack department, determining what items to produce in-house vs what items to source through wholesale vendors.
  10. Understands customer needs, knowledgeable about shopping trends of Western products and tack.
  11. Participate in local leather shows and trade events.
  12. Maintains effective and open communication with Saddle shop staff, Store Manager and General Manager, to contribute to Hamley's retail needs.
  13. Support the ongoing safety efforts to ensure all employees are working safely.
  14. Be open to ideas/options to promote leatherworking apprenticeships and assist in this pursuit as requested.
  15. Other related duties as requested/directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. One (1) year of financial management skills to estimate revenue, production expenses and manage inventory.
  2. One (1) year of experience with inventory management and control.
  3. One (1) year of Supervisory experience.
  4. High school diploma or GED or ten (10) years' experience.
  5. Experienced, leather craftsman skilled with saddle making, leather equipment, and goods.
  6. Need to stand for long periods: handle and maneuver bulky 50 lb. boxes; able to perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
  7. Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  8. Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  9. Effective communication skills - verbally able to provide instruction, respond to questions, and have exceptional interpersonal skills and abilities.
  10. Exhibits a professional demeanor through appearance and by maintaining a positive attitude toward all employees and guests.
  11. Requires a criminal history background check.
  12. Must be at least 18 years of age.
