Job description

Job Summary:
Western Midstream is looking to fill the position of Accountant. This role will collaborate with producers, commercial development, and operations to account for midstream producer allocations and settlements. Western Midstream provides competitive compensation package and potential for professional development and growth.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience in oil and gas; additional years of midstream industry experience highly desired.
  • Experience in processing gas plant allocations, utilizing plant allocation systems (W Energy or Quorum TIPS preferred).
  • Strong analytical and research skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask and work towards tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods and ability to successfully manage changing priorities.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with employees and managers across the organization, as well as with external auditors and producers.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform plant allocations and producer settlements for midstream assets.
  • Assures that contract terms are properly reflected in the gas, water, and oil allocation and settlement processes.
  • Responsible for imbalances, accounts receivable and account reconciliations.
  • Records journal entries for multiple entities and ensures transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with Company policies and controls.
  • Provides variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts for management reporting purposes.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with Commercial Development, Field Operations, Contract Administration, Planning, and Measurement, as well as external auditors and producers.
  • Answers and resolves internal and external customer inquiries, including audit inquiries.
  • Completes governmental regulatory filings.
  • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of transactions in the accounting systems and general ledger accounts.
  • Applies an analytical review to system results to ensure transactions are properly recorded in the accounting systems.
  • Supports special projects as needed and assists others as requested by management.
  • Prepares operational and financial summaries which capture revenues, cost of product, volumes, pricing, and variance explanations.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business administration.

Relocation:
  • This position is not eligible for relocation.

Travel Requirements:
  • The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-5%.

Work Schedule:
  • This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and working remote Wednesday and Friday. Monday-Thursday are 9 hours and Fridays are 4 hours.
