Day (United States of America)Job Summary:Armed position that is responsible for a fixed post or patrolling an assigned area to preserve peace and order, to provide excellent customer service and to protect persons and property, and to perform duties relating to the welfare and safety of the employees, patients, visitors, and property of WellStar Health System. Will carry a WHS issued handgun and an electronic control device (e.g. Taser).Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Enforce the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of WellStar Health System* Provide assistance to employees, patients and visitors.* Assist with traffic and parking control.* Document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow up corrective action.* Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage.* Report any unsafe conditions and actions taken to supervisor.Safety/Emergency responsibility & response* Assist with and be trained for emergency situations.* Respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.* Escort persons and assist facility personnel.* Be vigilant and alert for activities, which could result in injury to a person or damage to or loss of property.* Conduct drills and exercises as required.Provide excellent customer service* Provide a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas.* Maintain a positive working relationship with facility staff members.* Maintain a thorough knowledge of a facility and where applicable of multiple facilities.* Communicate effectively with diverse people including patients, visitors, employees and medical staff.* Write accurate, clear, and legible reports.Training / Loss Prevention* Working knowledge of Loss Prevention principles.* Possess working knowledge of crime scene protection.* Participates in new employee orientation and training of new security officers as assigned.* Attend monthly staff meetings and professional development classes related to the Security Department.* Strong working knowledge of CMS/EMTALA Guidelines and their applicability.Performs other duties as assignedComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.Required Minimum Education:

  • VSDL - Valid State Driver's License or GADL - Georgia Driver's License
  • GAWCP - Georgia Weapons Carry Permit
  • CHSAO - IAHSS Crt HC Security Adv Ofcr or CHSSO - IAHSS Crt HC Security Sup Ofcr
  • AVADE (Wellstar) - De-Escalation
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):Required Minimum Experience:Minimum 1 year private safety/security, military, or law enforcement experience RequiredRequired Minimum Skills:Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions.Possess writing skills necessary to complete incident, accident and investigative reports.Must have completed training from WHS that includes IAHSS Advanced, AVADE, AHA Heartsaver, defensive tactics, Taser and firearms or have received and can document equivalent training (as determined by WHS security management).Public relations skills necessary to communicate effectively with the public in a courteous, professional and tactful manner.Must be able to accept responsibility, manage authority and maintain confidentiality of information.Ability to function independent of constant supervision and exercise physical and emotional restraint under stressful conditions.Ability to observe, listen attentively and use problem-solving skills.Ability to maintain a Georgia Weapons Carry License.Ability to pass WHS Security minimum standards for armed security officers twice annually.Must be able to pass a psychological evaluation
