Role: Accounting Manager Accounts Payable & Payroll)

Hiring Type: Long term Contract (6month – year)

Location: Washington DC

Office Schedule : 3x a week on site 

Pay: $50-55/hr

Our client is in need of a Accounting Manager - Oversees 4 AP employees/ 1 Payroll (Role leans heavier on AP oversight but still requires hands-on payroll knowledge)

Requirements

·      10+ years AP and Payroll experience

·      Min 3 + years supervisory/management experience -minimum team of 3 (ideally blend of AP members and Payroll members – but more so on AP if had to chose

·      Hands-on payroll exposure required

·      Payroll tax, sales tax, and 1099 experience

·      Experience overseeing full AP process

Job Description:

·      AP Oversight

·      Oversee process/ team of 4 AP Specialist & 1 Payroll Specialist

·      Manage full AP lifecycle for both donated and federal funding.

·      Oversee invoice processing, coding, reconciliations, accruals, vendor maintenance, and month-end close.

·      Manage ACH, wires, electronic payments, and occasional physical check runs.

·      Work within banking/payment platforms including Truist, SPS, and ITS.

·      Push payments through final approval process.

·      Payroll Oversight

·      Supervise bi-weekly payroll processing for federal and donated employees.

·      Work within two payroll systems:

·      Dayforce for donated side

·      QuickTime for federal side

·      Assist with updating SOPs in new payroll system environment.

·      Partner closely with Payroll Administrator and HR.

·      Cash Management

·      Assist Controller with monitoring outgoing cash activity.

·      Keep leadership updated proactively with no surprises.

·      Support appropriated and non-appropriated fund management.

·      Credit Cards / Travel

·      Oversee employee credit card activity and travel financial processes.

·      Team handles most day-to-day processing/reporting; this role oversees and approves.

·      Audit / Compliance

·      Ensure compliance with federal/state/local tax regulations.

·      Handle payroll tax, AP tax, sales tax, and 1099 oversight.

·      Strengthen internal controls and policy recommendations.
