What is a wellness program director?

Wellness Program Directors are professionals who design, implement, and manage health and wellness initiatives within organizations or communities. Their role is to promote healthy lifestyles by organizing programs, workshops, and activities that support physical, mental, and emotional well-being. They often work with other health professionals to assess needs, set goals, and evaluate the effectiveness of wellness programs. These directors play a critical role in fostering a positive and healthy environment for employees or participants.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wellness program director?

To thrive as a Wellness Program Director, you need a background in health promotion, program management, and often a degree in health sciences, public health, or a related field. Familiarity with wellness assessment tools, data management software, and certifications like Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP) or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) are common requirements. Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills help build effective teams and engage participants. These abilities ensure the successful design, implementation, and evaluation of wellness initiatives that promote healthier organizational cultures.

What are some common challenges faced by a wellness program director when implementing new health initiatives?

A Wellness Program Director often faces challenges such as securing employee engagement, balancing diverse wellness needs, and demonstrating measurable outcomes to stakeholders. It can be difficult to design programs that appeal to a broad workforce while staying within budget and maintaining compliance with health regulations. Building strong relationships with HR, leadership, and external vendors is key to overcoming these hurdles and ensuring successful program adoption.

Job description

ABOUT HUT 8
Imagine the ultimate destination for those who want to work at the cutting edge of technology, energy, and infrastructure. Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world's largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads, including AI, Colocation, Cloud, and Bitcoin Mining. We are proud to offer interesting and challenging opportunities for individuals who want to build teams, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. If you're an ambitious individual looking for a career that is as rewarding as it is challenging, you've come to the right place.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a commercial and strategic Director to join our team and help shape Hut 8's capital allocation, growth strategy, and infrastructure expansion. Working closely with our executive leadership team, you will lead high-priority corporate initiatives, including M&A, financings, and joint ventures across our digital infrastructure and energy business.
The ideal candidate is a dealmaker coming out of Investment Banking, Private Equity, Infrastructure Funds, or Corporate Development from leading computing infrastructure and power and energy companies. We need a leader who can own the M&A process end-to-end-meaning you know how to source the opportunity, design the commercial structure, and determine how to finance the deal. This role offers regular exposure to our executive team, requiring someone who can comfortably translate complex financial decisions into clear business strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
End-to-End M&A & Deal Execution
  • Sourcing & Origination: Identify, screen, and source strategic investment opportunities, joint ventures, and M&A targets that expand our AI compute and data center footprint.
  • Transaction Structuring: Lead the commercial and legal structuring of complex deals, balancing corporate strategy, risk mitigation, and commercial terms.
  • Financing Strategy: Design and execute the financing strategy for each transaction, evaluating and securing the right mix of debt, equity, or structured capital solutions.
  • Deal Ownership: Manage the full deal lifecycle from initial valuation and non-binding offers through due diligence, definitive documentation negotiation, and closing.

Capital Strategy & Financial Oversight
  • Financial Modeling: Oversee corporate financial modeling work streams (including DCF, LBO, merger analysis, and project finance models) for data center developments and high-performance computing (HPC) assets.
  • Executive Decision Support: Synthesize transaction economics and valuation materials into clear presentations and recommendations for the Executive Team and the Board.

Collaboration & Relationship Management
  • Internal Coordination: Partner directly with senior leadership across AI/Data Center Development, Energy Origination, Strategic Finance, EPC, Treasury, Legal, and Accounting to ensure seamless execution.
  • Advisor Management: Lead external financial advisors, legal counsel, and technical consultants, keeping diligence work streams on time and on budget.
  • Network Management: Maintain and leverage a strong network of relationships with investment banks, institutional infrastructure investors, technology vendors, and energy counterparties.

ABOUT YOU
  • Background: 7-10+ years of transactional experience across Investment Banking, Private Equity, Infrastructure Funds, or Corporate Development from leading computing infrastructure and power and energy companies.
  • Deal Track Record: A proven history of closing transactions with clear ownership over the sourcing, structuring, and financing process.
  • Industry Focus: Strong familiarity with the economics of digital infrastructure, AI compute, data centers, or power and energy markets.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of corporate finance, project finance, capital markets, and corporate structuring, along with the ability to oversee complex modeling teams.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills and professional maturity, with the ability to present confidently to C-suite executives, board members, and sophisticated external partners.
  • Leadership Style: A self-starter who can effectively manage multiple high-stakes projects at once and guide cross-functional teams without losing sight of the details.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or CFA is a plus.

ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based in-office at our corporate headquarters in the Brickell area of Miami, Florida. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WHAT MAKES HUT 8 A GREAT PLACE TO WORK
Hut 8 offers a benefits and wellness program that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and short-term and long-term disability insurance, as well as paid time off. We are proud to invest in building the best team in the industry. At all levels of the organization, we are driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, radical transparency, and relentless growth mentality.
At Hut 8, you will have the opportunity to:
• Work with bright, driven peers from a range of educational and professional backgrounds including software development, energy, engineering, entrepreneurship, investment banking, private equity, and management consulting
• Design and pitch new products, services, and other initiatives to a leadership team consisting of serial entrepreneurs and seasoned executives and backed by a board of directors consisting of industry veterans of energy, finance, and government
• Debate ideas and alternatives in a truly meritocratic setting where the learning curve is steep and the lessons come from both senior and junior members of the team
• Build a lifelong network of friends and professional connections at the cutting-edge intersection of technology, energy, and infrastructure
