Position Overview:

The Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) plays a vital role in supporting residents to maintain or improve their physical, psychological, and functional abilities. Working under the supervision of licensed nursing or rehabilitation staff, the RNA provides restorative care, assists with therapeutic activities, and ensures adherence to personalized care plans. This position focuses on improving residents' quality of life through mobility training, exercise programs, and support for daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized restorative care plans as prescribed by licensed staff to meet residents’ rehabilitation goals.

    • Range of Motion

    • Splint or Brace Assistance (Amputation/Prosthetic Care)

    • Functional Mobility (transfers, bed mobility, ambulation)

    • Activities of Daily Living (dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting)

    • Eating and/or swallowing (Restorative/Assisted Dining/Free Water)

    • Communication, breath support, and wellness

  • Assist residents in mobility exercises, walking programs, range-of-motion exercises, and use of adaptive equipment.

  • Provide support for therapeutic activities aimed at improving independence and functionality in daily tasks.

  • Observe residents’ progress and communicate changes or concerns to the nursing or rehabilitation team.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of restorative services provided and residents’ progress in compliance with facility protocols.

  • Assist residents with feeding, grooming, and other activities of daily living as part of restorative care.

  • Promote a safe and comfortable environment for residents during restorative care activities.

  • Provide encouragement and motivation to residents to achieve their restorative goals.

  • Train residents in proper techniques for mobility and transfers while ensuring safety.

  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and other team members to ensure continuity of care and optimal outcomes.

  • Clean and maintain restorative equipment and therapy areas as needed.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care plan updates.

  • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations.

  • Providing feedback to the interdisciplinary team about status changes of residents receiving therapy.

  • Scheduling and prioritizing workload in collaboration with the Rehab Director.

Qualifications:

• Certified and state tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
