Heavy Equipment Operator – Well Services

Location: Canonsburg, PA
Schedule: Full-time + Overtime
Reports To: Field Supervisor / Well Services Foreman

Position Overview

Growing Seasons Landscaping (GSL) is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Well Services Division. This role requires hands-on experience operating excavators, skid steers, and dozers in oil & gas or heavy civil environments.

You’ll support pad construction, access roads, site restoration, and well site operations. Candidates must be safety-focused, reliable, and able to maintain grade accurately on active job sites.

This is not an entry-level role — finish grade experience is required.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate excavators, skid steers, and dozers for:
    • Pad construction and maintenance
    • Trenching and backfilling
    • Roadway and access improvements
    • Site restoration and grading
  • Perform finish grading and maintain precise elevations based on plans and field direction
  • Work on active and reclaimed well sites following strict safety protocols
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, greasing, and basic maintenance
  • Communicate with foremen and crew to execute daily work plans
  • Assist ground crew as needed to keep production moving
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant jobsite at all times

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years operating excavators, skid steers, and dozers
  • Proven ability to hold grade and perform finish work (not just rough grading)
  • Experience in oil & gas, utilities, heavy civil, or industrial construction
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety and hazard awareness
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check
  • Reliable transportation and strong attendance
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica, etc.)
  • Experience working on well pads or pipeline projects

Safety & OSHA Requirements

  • Follow all OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926 – Construction Standards) and company safety policies
  • Participate in daily safety meetings (tailgate/toolbox talks)
  • Maintain awareness of underground utilities, trench safety, and equipment hazards
  • Proper use of PPE at all times (hard hat, steel-toe boots, high-visibility vest, gloves, eye protection)
  • Ability to recognize and report unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb on/off equipment multiple times per day
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment, uneven terrain, and active job sites

Why Join GSL – Well Services

  • Competitive pay (based on experience)
  • Overtime opportunities
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off + paid holidays
  • Stable, year-round work
  • Strong safety culture with clear expectations
  • Growth opportunities within a specialized division

Apply Today

If you’re a skilled operator who can hold grade and run excavator, skid steer, and dozer confidently, apply today for steady, year-round work in well services with a company that takes safety seriously.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment motor vehicle record (MVR) check, criminal background check, and drug screening.
