Familiarity with welding equipment, safety protocols, and fabrication tools is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong hand-eye coordination are vital soft skills that help ensure precision and quality. Welders often encounter safety challenges such as exposure to intense heat, fumes, and ultraviolet light, as well as the risk of burns or electric shock. Most employers address these risks by providing comprehensive safety training, enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like helmets, gloves, and respirators, and maintaining strict safety protocols in the work area. Regular equipment inspections and adherence to OSHA guidelines are also standard practices to minimize hazards and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
