Job Title: MIG Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on MIG welding and fabrication for an oil and gas–related manufacturing operation. You will fabricate parts used to assemble complex units, performing high-quality welds on mild steel ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches in thickness while interpreting blueprints and schematics to build accurate, reliable components.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on mild steel components ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches in thickness using .035 and .045 wire sizes.
• Fabricate parts and assemblies that will be used to build complete units, ensuring dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to plan and execute welding and fitting tasks correctly.
• Fit, align, and position components prior to welding to achieve precise tolerances and proper joint configuration.
• Execute uphill welding techniques as required to meet project specifications and quality standards.
• Inspect welds visually and with basic tools to verify quality, consistency, and adherence to company and industry standards.
• Collaborate with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure parts are produced on schedule and meet all design requirements.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work area in safe, clean, and operational condition.
• Follow all safety procedures and shop guidelines while working with welding equipment, flux, and other materials.

Essential Skills

• At least 10 years of hands-on MIG welding experience.
• Proficiency in MIG welding on mild steel from 1/4 inch to 2 inches in thickness.
• Demonstrated experience using .035 and .045 wire sizes over the required years of MIG welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings.
• Strong fabrication skills, including fitting and assembly of parts based on blueprints.
• Uphill welding experience with consistent, high-quality results.
• Solid understanding of welding techniques, weld quality standards, and basic inspection methods.
• Experience working in a shop environment with welding and fabrication equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in oil and gas manufacturing environments.
• Experience in a job shop setting, with exposure to custom, varied work rather than high-volume production.
• Experience working with flux and related welding materials.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other welders and fabrication staff.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Environment

The role is based in a shop environment that is not climate controlled. You will work around standard welding and fabrication equipment and materials, including MIG welders, flux, and various steel components. The setting is typical of an industrial fabrication shop, with a focus on safety, productivity, and hands-on work at the welding station.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
