Job description

Position Title: Pipeline Skilled Laborer

Essential Functions:ย

We seek a detail-oriented, safety sensitive, driven Pipeline Skilled Laborerย to join our growing team.ย  As a Skilled Laborer, daily work will involve installation of natural gas distribution systems for new construction subdivisions.ย 

Roles and Responsibilities:ย 

  • Installation of new plastic PVC & steel gas main servicesย 
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications by welding, brazing, soldering, etc.ย 
  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, observation, and other methods.ย 
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.ย 
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, and repairs according to specifications listed on blueprints.ย 
  • Drives commercial vehicles equipped to transport a variety of materials and equipment.ย 
  • Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance.ย 
  • Signalโ€™s equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.ย 
  • Works safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucksย 
  • Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.ย 
  • Complete daily paperwork in an accurate mannerย 
  • Commitment to safety in all workย 

Success Factors:ย 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, grasp, push, pull and reach on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.ย 
  • Time management skillsย 
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.ย 
  • Required to travel out of town to work on projects of varying length approximately 10% of the time.ย 
  • CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement preferred.ย 
  • Valid DOT Medical Card required.ย 

Experience and Education:ย 

  • 2-3 years of experience in the construction, underground or gas distribution industryย 
  • 2-3 years of experience with fusing/welding methods and techniquesย 

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:ย 

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driverโ€™s License is required within two weeks of employment.ย 
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.ย
