HUALAPAI PREFERENCE
Position: Zip Line Photographer
Department: Grand Canyon West
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: H5
Supervisor: Zip Line Manager

Position Summary:
Responsible for ensuring that all visitors on the Zip Line have the opportunity to have their picture taken while on the Zip Line. Engages guests so that multiple photos may be taken recording an exciting, once in a lifetime experience. Answers all questions regarding the Hualapai River Runner trips, the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. Directs customer flow in a professional and courteous manner. Maintains camera equipment and ensures all photos are received at the photo sales areas for guests to view. Ensures outstanding customer service for guests and acts as a Hualapai ambassador.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Obtain in the moment photographs of participants while they are engaged in zip line and around canyon. Greet guests arriving promptly being courteous, friendly and helpful. Provide information to guests regarding the opportunity to purchase the photographs taken during their visit.
  2. Engage guests and take unique photos of them and the scenic view, ensuring they have multiple photos to choose from recording their once in a lifetime experience.
  3. Maintain camera equipment used and ensure photos are transmitted to the photo sales areas.
  4. Answer all guests questions regarding photographs taken and make sure they are aware of how to purchase photos or photo packages.
  5. Direct customer flow on the Zip Line, ensuring guests have the opportunity to enjoy their visit yet mindful of customers waiting.
  6. Maintain inventory for photo area. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  7. Edit and upload all images to hard drive, create a DVD or flash drive that highlights zip line action.
  8. Transfer all videos and photographs to a USB flash drive at the end of each day.
  9. Fitting harness and helmets correctly and supervising the use of all safety equipment.
  10. Conducting pre-tour safety orientation for each customer at times.
  11. Assuring the safety and wellbeing of guests throughout each tour.
  12. Educating guests about the history of Grand Canyon West as well as geology, culture and Hualapai Tribe.
  13. Conducting complete inspections of all course components and gear.
  14. Assisting with course maintenance efforts.
  15. Attending required meetings and trainings.

Knowledge and Abilities:
  1. Experience using photo equipment and ability to take creative and unique photographs of guests enjoying the Zip Line. Customer sales experience also desired.
  2. Ability to interact with guests and tour groups and provide prompt, outstanding customer service while answering questions and taking photos that guests will want to purchase.
  3. Ability to understand questions being asked and provide detailed information regarding tourism options.
  4. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner.
  5. Ability to work in a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  7. Ability to meet monthly sales goals, as set forth by management.
  8. Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods, regardless of weather conditions.
  9. Knowledge of the Skywalk, Grand Canyon, Colorado River, Grand Canyon West locations and operations and Hualapai history and culture.


Qualifications:
  1. Excellent oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  2. High School Diploma or GED.
  3. Prior Photography experience and sales experience preferred.
  4. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work holidays & weekends
  • Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions.
  • Be comfortable with working heights of 200+ feet.
