Job Description:

MRI Technologist Weekend Worker is responsible for performing MRI imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Positions, moves, and assists patients to ensure accurate imaging results. This role performs clerical duties and provides basic patient care within the scope of practice and departmental standards. In addition, this position adheres to MRI safety guidelines, compliance plans, and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies.

Work Hours/Shift -Weekends

Work 24 hours, get paid for 36 hours. (Time and a half)

2 x 12 hour weekend day shifts

Saturday & Sunday 6:30am-7:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. 

  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.

  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.

  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds

  • Knowledge of MRI procedures

  • Knowledge of MRI scanners

  • Ability to learn and grow with new technology

  • Customer Service skills

  • MRI Safety

  • Basic IV skills

  • Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment

  • Ability to work flexibly in variable shifts, occasionally including weekends or holidays

  • Ability to understand medical terminology

  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals

  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • General computer skills and PACS

  • General physics and anatomy

  • Experience/knowledge of computers/networking

  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures

  • Maintain responsibility for all Hospital continuing and annual education

  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff

  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel

  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization


Education:

  • Associate Degree -Required

  • High School Grad or Equivalent


Work Experience:

  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program
