Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving Sequel's quality management systems and ensuring product compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory standards. This position plays a hands-on role supporting production, conducting root cause analysis, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining agency certifications (UL/CSA/ETL).

Experience in wire and cable manufacturing, particularly low-voltage wire, is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

Quality System Development

  • Lead and assist in setting up the Quality System for Sequel's new Low Voltage operations, ensuring it aligns with established processes and standards in the OEM building. Support integration of documentation, quality controls, and reporting systems to maintain consistency across both operations.

  Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Investigate customer quality concerns, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and disposition items in the RMA area, logging all findings for traceability.
  • Prepare and submit PPAPs, test reports, certificates of conformance, and other customer-required documentation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve component issues and prevent recurrence.

Compliance & Certifications

  • Manage and maintain compliance with UL/CSA/ETL and other agency requirements.
  • Coordinate new product approvals, handle agency audits, and submit required samples for testing.
  • Communicate any non-conformance or regulatory issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support sustainability and compliance documentation for governing regulations.

Calibration & Testing

  • Schedule, conduct, and log calibration of all testing equipment.
  • Order and maintain testing tools and equipment.
  • Conduct internal product testing to ensure compliance with customer and agency specifications.

Quality Control & Reporting

  • Track daily and month-to-date production metrics.
  • Review daily production sheets for Percent to BOM and Percent to Package, investigating any abnormalities (exceeding 3%).
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

Quality Assurance & Auditing

  • Manage the internal and external Quality Log and ensure accurate, timely updates for monthly reporting.
  • Lead and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and manage document control systems, work instructions, and audit binders.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and deliver training or retraining programs on quality processes and standards.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives, SPC, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, forms, and process guides to ensure consistent product quality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve wire and cable manufacturing processes.
  • Support ERP and data systems for quality tracking, documentation, and communication.
  • Participate in new product launches to ensure all quality and agency requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or process quality engineering, ideally in wire and cable production.
  • Strong      understanding of wire manufacturing, extrusion, and tooling processes.
  • Experience with UL/CSA certification processes and agency audits.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working on the production floor in a fast-paced environment.
