Job description

Samsung SDS America (SDSA) supports Samsung’s global technology ecosystem by delivering secure, high‑performance IT infrastructure and enterprise solutions across cloud, mobility, analytics, and advanced manufacturing environments.

At the Samsung Austin Semiconductor campus—one of the most advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities in the United States—SDSA plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of the systems that keep production running around the clock. This environment demands engineering excellence, operational precision, and a deep commitment to system resilience. This role operates in a high‑stakes, innovation‑driven setting that is a key technical resource, supporting the mission‑critical Windows platforms that underpin semiconductor manufacturing operations.

Position Summary:

This role requires a solid foundation in system administration, scripting automation, and disaster‑recovery planning, with an emphasis on improving reliability and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Server Lifecycle Management – Deploy, configure, and decommission Windows Server instances (Physical, VMware, Citrix/Horizon) following change‑management procedures.

  • Advanced PowerShell Automation – Develop reusable scripts for provisioning, patch management, and health monitoring; integrate scripts with orchestration tools.

  • Cluster & High‑Availability – Design and maintain Windows Server Failover Clustering, configure AD replication, and manage Wsus distribution points.

  • Disaster Recovery – Create and test DR plans; manage backups (NetBackup/Legato/Avamar) and storage snapshots.

  • Technical Consultation – Provide guidance to development teams on OS compatibility, performance tuning, and system interface design.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Author detailed runbooks; lead internal knowledge‑transfer sessions.

  • On‑Call Support – Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule to address urgent incidents outside regular hours.

Requirements

  • 3‑5 years of professional experience as a Windows Systems Engineer in enterprise environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Expert PowerShell scripting (module creation, error handling).

  • Deep knowledge of AD, DNS, DFS, WSUS, and Failover Clustering.

  • Hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere and Citrix/Horizon virtualization.

  • Familiarity with backup solutions (NetBackup/Legato/Avamar).

  • Strong analytical abilities, proactive problem solving, ability to work independently yet effectively within cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with enterprise storage arrays (PowerPlex, PowerVault, Isilon, NetApp, Pure Storage).

  • Exposure to BMC/iDRAC/iLO hardware management for firmware updates and health monitoring.

  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate; VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
