What is a weekend videographer?

Weekend videographers are professionals who specialize in filming video content primarily during weekends. They often cover events such as weddings, parties, sports games, or corporate functions that occur outside of the typical workweek. These videographers are skilled in using cameras and editing software to capture and produce high-quality videos tailored to their clients' needs. Their flexible schedules make them ideal for clients who need coverage on Saturdays and Sundays. Many weekend videographers work freelance or as part of media production teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend videographer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Videographer, you need proficiency in video recording, editing, and storytelling, often backed by experience or formal training in videography or multimedia production. Familiarity with cameras, lighting equipment, audio gear, and editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is essential. Creativity, flexibility, and strong time management skills help you adapt to different shooting environments and client needs. These skills ensure the production of high-quality, engaging videos that meet both technical standards and client expectations.

What are some common challenges weekend videographers face when covering events, and how can they be managed?

Weekend Videographers often encounter fast-paced environments, unpredictable lighting, and the need to capture high-quality footage on tight schedules. Being prepared with backup equipment, scouting event locations in advance, and maintaining clear communication with clients and team members can help manage these challenges. Flexibility and quick problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to adapt to last-minute changes or unexpected occurrences during weekend events.

Job description

Make Your Work Matter Every Day

What if your creativity could help tell the stories of people creating brighter futures?

Behind every service we provide is a dedicated team of employees committed to supporting children, youth, and families. As a Videographer/Photographer, your creativity and storytelling skills help bring FosterAdopt Connect's mission to life. Through compelling photography and video, you'll help showcase the people, programs, and communities at the heart of our work while increasing awareness of the impact we make every day.

At FosterAdopt Connect, we're building something bigger than ourselves. Every day, our team works alongside children, youth, and families navigating the challenges of the child welfare system. For more than 25 years, we've been leading innovative, family-centered solutions across Kansas and Missouri, helping create brighter futures for children and stronger communities.

We believe meaningful work should also be inspiring work. That's why we've built a culture that is collaborative, supportive, diverse, and mission-driven. Here, your creativity is valued, your professional growth is encouraged, and your contributions have a direct impact on how we connect people to our mission.

If you're looking for a career where your creative talents can help amplify important stories and inspire people to make a difference, we'd love to meet you.

Why Join FosterAdopt Connect?

  • Be part of a mission-driven organization that changes lives every day.
  • Use your photography, videography, and storytelling skills to highlight the people and communities we serve.
  • Collaborate with passionate professionals across Marketing, Development, leadership, and program teams.
  • Help shape FosterAdopt Connect's brand and digital presence through engaging visual content.
  • Enjoy a supportive, creative culture where your ideas and contributions are valued.

Videographer/Photographer

The Videographer/Photographer plays a key role in bringing FosterAdopt Connect's mission, programs, and impact to life through high-quality visual storytelling. This position creates compelling photography and video content that highlights the experiences of children, youth, families, staff, and communities while strengthening awareness of FosterAdopt Connect's work. As a member of the Marketing department, the Videographer/Photographer collaborates with Development, leadership, and program teams to plan, develop, and produce engaging visual content from concept through post-production. This includes developing creative concepts, coordinating and conducting photo and video shoots, capturing high-quality footage and images, editing content, and preparing assets for use across digital and traditional platforms.

The Videographer/Photographer helps maintain a consistent and recognizable visual identity across FosterAdopt Connect's website, social media, campaigns, events, publications, and other communications. This position also helps identify opportunities to tell authentic, mission-centered stories that engage audiences and demonstrate the organization's impact. Although much of this work happens behind the camera, its impact is seen and felt across the organization. Your ability to capture authentic moments and tell meaningful stories helps connect communities to our mission, inspire support, and shine a light on the people and programs making a difference every day.

This isn't just a photography and videography position-it's an opportunity to use your creativity to tell stories that matter and help make life-changing work possible.
