Job description

About Long Island Rough Riders
The Long Island Rough Riders are one of the region's premier pre-professional soccer organizations, fielding both men's and women's teams that compete at the highest levels of the USL pathway.
Our Men's Team competes in USL League Two, the top pre-professional league in North America and a proven launching point for elite collegiate and academy players pursuing professional opportunities in the USL Championship and MLS. Competing in the highly competitive Metropolitan Division, the Rough Riders consistently showcase top talent and help athletes take the next step in their careers.
Our Women's Team competes in the USL W League, a national platform dedicated to developing top female athletes and preparing them for the professional game.
In addition to our pre-professional teams, we offer key development programs for youth players across Long Island:
  • Summer Select (Seasonal Pre-Club Program):
A competitive summer pathway for elite players from all clubs in Nassau and Suffolk County. Teams compete in the USL Youth League, with the opportunity to advance to the National Final in Tampa, Florida.
  • Pre-Academy (Year-Round Supplemental Program):
Open to players from any club who want to elevate their game through extra training and playing opportunities. Teams train weekly and compete in tournaments and leagues throughout the year.

We are a mission-driven organization committed to growing the game, developing players, and strengthening our soccer community. We seek passionate team members who want to make an impact on and off the field.
About the role
The Long Island Rough Riders are seeking passionate, motivated, and reliable youth coaches to support our Community Programs, Clinics, Camps, and Club-level player development pathway. This role is ideal for coaches who are committed to creating a positive, engaging learning environment for players of all ages and abilities.
As a Community & Club Youth Coach, you will deliver high-quality training sessions aligned with the Rough Riders' coaching methodology, represent the organization at programs and events across Long Island, and contribute to the growth and professionalism of our youth development system.
What you'll do

  • Coach Pre-Club level players in structured seasonal programs with a focus on technical development, game understanding, and character building.
  • Deliver sessions using the Rough Riders curriculum and coaching guidelines.
  • Provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with parents, players, and staff.
  • Assist with player evaluations, seasonal progress reports, and ID sessions when required.
  • Arrive fully prepared and on time for all scheduled sessions and events.
  • Attend staff training, coaching education, and club meetings.
  • Support the delivery of promotional or community outreach events as needed.
  • Uphold the club's culture, values, and safeguarding standards at all times.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and manage young players in a positive learning environment.
  • Reliable transportation to program locations across Nassau and Suffolk.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends based on program schedule.
  • Must pass a background check and complete SafeSport/club compliance modules.

Preferred Qualifications
  • USSF, UEFA, or equivalent coaching licenses/certifications.
  • Playing background at competitive or collegiate level.
  • Experience delivering clinics, camps, or large-group sessions
  • Knowledge of Long Island soccer landscape and youth development principles.
