Job description

Position Overview

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a Transmission Line Design QA/QC Engineer to support engineering and quality assurance activities for transmission line projects in the Mesa, Arizona area. This role will focus on reviewing transmission line designs, ensuring compliance with established engineering standards, and supporting modeling and analysis activities using industry-standard tools.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and experience with overhead transmission line design, including familiarity with PLS-CADD modeling and analysis.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring approximately two days per week onsite in East Mesa with the remainder of the work performed remotely.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Review & Quality Assurance
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of transmission line design packages

  • Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements

  • Complete Transmission Line Design QA/QC checklists for assigned projects

  • Review transmission line components including:

    • Pole locations

    • Pole types and structure configurations

    • Framing callouts

    • Structure heights and clearances

Engineering Analysis & Modeling
  • Perform PLS-CADD modeling and analysis for overhead transmission line designs

  • Assist in validating design assumptions and engineering calculations

  • Support engineering teams in resolving design issues identified during QA/QC review

Asset & Infrastructure Review
  • Conduct engineering reviews of encroachment and attachment requests affecting transmission line assets

  • Ensure proposed attachments or modifications meet safety and design requirements

Collaboration & Field Support
  • Participate in meetings with engineering teams, construction personnel, and external stakeholders

  • Support coordination between design, engineering, and project management teams

  • Conduct site visits and field walkdowns as needed to support project evaluation and design verification

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline

  • Experience with overhead transmission line design

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, design packages, and technical documentation

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using PLS-CADD for transmission line design and analysis

  • Familiarity with transmission line design standards and QA/QC processes

  • Experience supporting utility or power transmission projects

  • Experience reviewing encroachments or third-party attachments to transmission infrastructure

A PLS-CADD license will be provided if required.
