Job description

General Position Description

The Assistant Toddler Teacher is responsible for assisting the lead teacher with developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.

Key Responsibilities are as follow but are not limited to:

  • Assist the teacher in Coordinating and implementing educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Supervise children at all times for their safety and the safety of others.
  • Label all children items (bags, clothes, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, cups, bottles, blankets, etc.)
  • Lead by example; model positive communication with students, families and coworkers
  • Assist the teacher with Planning individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Use BrightWheel (will train) to communicate with parents and share child's work. (our center app)
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment รขโ‚ฌ" including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Make to follow planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
  • Report all incidents and accidents to teacher, parents and director.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom.
  • Join weekly team meetings for planning and reflection.
  • Utilization of community resources, plan trips and classroom activities.
  • Stock the classroom with supplies as needed.
  • Keep toys, mats appropriately sanitized, according to CDC and state licensing regulations.
  • Attend required meetings, as scheduled
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as Open House, Parents Evening/weekend Events at ACCLC, etc.
  • Attend professional development as required.

Job Type: Full-Time
