Job Title: Registered Nurse

License: Must have an active IL license to apply
Certifications: BLS and NIH required; ACLS preferred
Must-Have:
Required work setting experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown.
Required cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Experience with telemetry monitoring on the unit.
Required cardiovascular skills, including post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band.
Required gastrointestinal skills, including feeding tube care and management.
Experience in genitourinary/renal, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure.
Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy, including accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care/management.
Required medication management skills, including heparin protocols and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips-no titration.
Experience with neurological and psychiatric cases, such as craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
Required orthopedic case experience, including ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements.
Experience in plastic surgery case management, including skin grafts and surgical drains.
Required respiratory skills for care of ventilated patients and management of chest tubes as well as non-invasive airway management.
Knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac.
Experience with Cerner preferred.
Description:
The position is for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU RN.
The role requires working three 12-hour days per week.
The nurse will handle a patient ratio of 1:4.
Flexibility to float as needed is required.
Candidates must adhere to weekend shifts, working every other weekend.
Teaching hospital experience and prior trauma experience are preferred.
This is a fast-paced unit with high patient throughput.
The unit takes patients of all diagnoses.
The charge nurse may assist with up to four patients but this is not common.
Candidates should be prepared to take patients with tracheostomies and ventilators.
Physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy support, and rapid response teams are available for interdisciplinary support.
No mandatory COVID-19 vaccination is required; however, flu vaccination is required with medical or religious exemptions allowed.
