How much do weekend tax jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 7, 2026, the average yearly pay for weekend tax in the United States is $58,389.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $36,000.00 and $69,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a weekend tax?

Weekend Tax jobs are positions within tax preparation, consulting, or accounting firms that primarily require employees to work on weekends. These roles may include preparing tax returns, assisting clients with tax questions, or providing support during busy tax seasons when weekend hours are essential. Weekend Tax jobs are ideal for individuals seeking flexible work schedules or supplemental income. They may be seasonal, especially around tax deadlines, or ongoing roles depending on the organization’s needs.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a weekend tax associate?

To thrive as a Weekend Tax Associate, you need a solid understanding of tax regulations, accounting principles, and a relevant degree such as accounting or finance. Familiarity with tax preparation software (like Intuit ProConnect or Drake Tax), Excel, and potentially a CPA certification are typically required. Strong attention to detail, time management, and effective client communication skills help candidates excel in this role. These abilities are crucial for ensuring accurate tax filings, meeting tight deadlines, and providing reliable service during high-demand weekend hours.

Weekend Tax professionals often handle urgent or time-sensitive tax matters that arise outside of regular business hours, requiring adaptability and strong organizational skills. Balancing multiple client requests and meeting tight deadlines can be challenging, especially during peak tax seasons. Additionally, teamwork is essential, as you may coordinate with weekday staff to ensure continuity and accuracy in client files. This role can provide valuable exposure to high-priority cases and offers opportunities to develop problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

DWM Tax Planning LLC

About Us

DWM Tax Planning LLC is a new tax preparation and planning firm affiliated with Dreyer Wealth Management, an independent, client-focused wealth advisory firm with locations in Appleton, WI, and Green Bay, WI. Dreyer Wealth Management helps individuals and families make confident financial decisions through thoughtful financial planning and investment management, and DWM Tax Planning extends that work to the tax side. This is a new position, and the person we hire will help shape how the practice is built.

  • Meet with clients to gather documents, explain results, and answer questions
  • Identify tax planning opportunities such as Roth conversions, capital gain timing, charitable giving, and retirement distribution strategy
  • Review tax returns and financial plans for planning opportunities
  • Coordinate those opportunities with the client's financial advisor so the tax and investment sides stay aligned
  • Participate in joint meetings with clients and their financial advisor to walk through tax results and planning recommendations together
  • Assist in developing financial plans
  • Prepare quarterly estimate calculations and year-end tax projections
  • Stay current on federal and Wisconsin tax law changes
  • Handle other planning and tax-related tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

  • At least one year of individual tax preparation experience
  • Active PTIN, or ability to obtain one before starting
  • EA or CPA preferred but not required; we will support your pursuit of the EA credential
  • Comfortable working directly with clients, not just with returns
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a heavy caseload during tax season without letting quality slip
  • Comfortable with tax software and willing to learn new systems
  • Interest in the planning side of tax work

Pay

  • $50,000 to $60,000 per year, depending on experience and credentials
  • Annual bonus based on company performance, profitability, and number of returns filed

Benefits

  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Bonuses based on company performance and profitability
  • No Fridays in Summer
  • Quarterly team-building outings

Schedule

  • Full time: Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Summer: Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Possible additional hours during tax season
  • Flexibility in work hours depending on needs

Work Location

  • In person: 331 E Washington St, Appleton, WI 54911
  • Occasional travel to our Green Bay, WI location

All advancing candidates must successfully complete a background check and fingerprinting, which is required because of our affiliation with a FINRA member broker-dealer.
