Job Summary:
McLeod Software is a company that values its employees and focuses on growth and success. They are seeking a Developer for Special Projects who will deliver and support data-driven solutions by building and optimizing Power BI dashboards and SQL solutions to enhance business decision-making.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets that support operational and strategic decision-making.
โ€ข Translate business requirements into effective analytical solutions, including intuitive visualizations, scalable data models, and actionable reporting outputs.
โ€ข Develop, test, and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to ensure accuracy, usability, and performance.
โ€ข Build and maintain analytical data models, including fact and dimension tables, relationships, hierarchies, and security structures aligned with reporting needs.
โ€ข Manage and support Power BI Service functions such as dataset publishing, refresh schedules, row-level security, workspace administration, and access management.
โ€ข Monitor and improve report, dataset, and query performance, identifying opportunities to enhance speed, reliability, and user experience.
โ€ข Ensure data quality and integrity through validation, cleansing, transformation, and reconciliation processes across reporting and analytics solutions.
โ€ข Collaborate with cross-functional business and technical teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver scalable data and reporting solutions.
โ€ข Support deployment, version control, and environment promotion processes using established development and DevOps practices.

Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree with 4+ years of experience in data analytics in transportation and/or software-related roles, required; 8+ years of experience in data analytics in transportation and/or software-related roles.
โ€ข Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
โ€ข Intermediate to expert experience with Power BI, including dashboard development, data modeling, and Power BI Service management, required.
โ€ข Intermediate experience with data modeling concepts such as star and snowflake schemas, fact and dimension tables, required.
โ€ข Intermediate to advanced proficiency in DAX, including complex measures, time intelligence, and performance optimization, required.
โ€ข Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and performance tuning, required.
โ€ข Foundational knowledge of database design and data integrity, required.
Preferred:
โ€ข Experience providing technical support for software or data solutions, preferred.
โ€ข Experience working with data related to customer orders, shipments, or invoicing, a plus.
โ€ข Experience training or supporting end users in the use of reporting, analytics, or software tools, preferred.
โ€ข Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, preferred.
โ€ข Basic knowledge of .NET and API integration, preferred.
โ€ข Familiarity with Azure data services such as Azure SQL, Synapse/SQL Pools, and Key Vault, preferred.
