Tangram Flex is seeking a Systems Engineer to work within a specialized small team whose core mission is to establish, deploy, refine, and oversee Systems Engineering standards and best

practices across the enterprise.

POSITION DESCRIPTION /

In this role, you will serve as a technical leader and change agent. Your immediate focus will be embedding with a customer/end-user focused group to drive early-lifecycle Systems Engineering: collecting Voice of the Customer (VOC), defining stakeholder needs, modeling the problem space, and deriving rigorous stakeholder requirements. This role is a hybrid position that requires at least 2 days a week at WPAFB, though additional in-office days will often be required due to in-person meetings and Secret/Top Secret work.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES /

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute Requirements Decomposition in the problem space
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze Voice of the Customer (VOC)
    • Translate VOC into Stakeholder Needs and derive Stakeholder Requirements
    • Build out the behavior of MBSE models that helps derive stakeholder requirements and clearly defines the problems for the solution space
    • Perform requirements gap and overlap analysis against existing requirements
    • Train and mentor members on requirements decomposition and MBSE modeling
  • Manage requirements in JAMA Connect
  • Drive the development, documentation, promotion, and enforcement of enterprise-wide systems engineering standards
  • Build and maintain an MBSE Governance model for program processes, group functions, and strategic objective alignment.
  • Develop and conduct training to ensure adoption and compliance with Systems Engineering Standards
  • Execute additional systems engineering activities across the program lifecycle as needed


DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE /

Required:

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience
  • 3+ years Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience using SysML v1 and tools such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture
  • Familiarity with proper requirements decomposition and requirements management
  • Knowledge of established MBSE methodologies (e.g., MagicGrid, OOSEM)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive adoption of new processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with technical teams and government stakeholders
  • Required to work at WPAFB a minimum of two days a week, other work can be remote, or in Dayton office.

Preferred:

  • Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance or within the last 12 months
  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience performing Systems Engineering activities in DoD or defense-related programs
  • Familiarity with Air Force or DoD acquisition processes and systems engineering standards (e.g., MIL-STD-499C, IEEE 15288)
  • Experience in authoring technical standards, style guides, or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Familiarity with the INCOSE Guide for Writing Requirements or other industry-standard requirement quality frameworks
  • Familiarity with JAMA (or other requirement management tools)
  • INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification
  • Familiarity with UAFML, BPMN, and/or DODAF
  • Experience in technical mentorship, peer coaching, or leading training workshops for engineering teams.
  • Experience working within Agile, DevSecOps, or integrated digital engineering environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel by air, car, or other transportation methods.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8 hours/day).
  • Ability to lift and carry lightweight items (e.g., laptops, demo equipment, marketing materials) up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, using a mouse, writing, and handling equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read detailed technical documents, view computer screens, and operate software systems.
  • Auditory ability to participate in meetings, customer demos, and conference calls, including in potentially noisy environments (e.g., trade shows or military facilities).
  • Mobility to move between office spaces, customer sites, conference venues, and manufacturing or lab environments.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work environments (e.g., corporate offices, government buildings, industrial or lab spaces).
