Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Dean of Academics Logistics or designee, this position will work, as needed, as a substitute teacher on short-term or long-term assignments

Reports to: Dean of Academics, Logistics

Supervisory duties: None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for the continuous supervision of students in the classroom
  • Record and report classroom attendance according to the school system
  • Follow lesson plans effectively and provide notes for the teacher when they return
  • Responsible for student academic growth and development in meeting student academic needs by providing appropriate and approved instruction
  • Communicate consistently and clearly with school personnel or regular teachers to clarify lesson plans
  • Maintain the attractiveness and cleanliness of the room environment
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with school staff and support personnel to provide effective learning activities for students
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities such as fire drills or in hallways, and help maintain behavior standards school-wide
  • Maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a desirable, safe learning environment in and out of the classroom
  • Provide a classroom climate and learning experience that supports the emotional, physical, social, and mental development of the student
  • Follow all school handbook guidelines, regulations, and regulationsand /procedures
  • Supports the Mission of Orange Lutheran High School. Teaching and classroom behavior are in alignment with the Statement of Faith of Orange Lutheran High School

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Act as a roving substitute to cover classrooms as assigned or directed
  • May be asked to cover one-fourth periods per day based on classroom needs
  • May be required to perform periodic supervision or cover vacant assignments as needed during the instructional day
  • All other duties as assigned

Education

BA or BS Degree

Experience

  • Proven successful classroom teaching experience is preferred, but not required
  • Equivalent directly related job experience, or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND CLEARANCES

  • Cleared Background/Fingerprint check
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Cleared TB assessment
  • Completion of Ministry Safe Training
