Department/Unit Summary

The Operating Room at Raleigh General is a highly controlled specialty unit focused on delivering surgical care safely and effectively.  We offer general, orthopedic, urologic, vascular, robotic, gynecologic, dental and spine surgeries.  Opportunities are present for cross training in other areas as well.  The operating room employs registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, surgical technologists, and surgery aides, as well as support staff for billing and patient scheduling.  We offer a variety of shifts and schedules including 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts as well as weekend only work.

Minimum Education:

Graduate of a Program in Discipline - Required Graduate of a School of Nursing / College Nursing Education Program

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - to be obtained within 6 months.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - to be obtained within 6 months.

Required Licenses:
Current licensure by WV State Board of Nursing.
