Unit has a total of 20 beds.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 in Stepdown and 1:5-6 on the Med Surg floor.
Common diagnoses include respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections, acute kidney injury, and chest pain.
RNs are responsible for titrating drips.
Common titratable and/or set rate drips include Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone.
There is a House Supervisor present on the unit.
There are certified nurse aides available on the unit, with two on each shift.
Equipment used includes RT CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen.
Monitoring is available on the unit, and RNs are required to read cardiac strips.
The unit requires three weekend shifts every four weeks.
Holidays are rotated between evening or day shifts.
There is no call or standby requirement.
The dress code includes royal blue scrubs.
Unit-specific orientation is provided.
The cancellation policy allows for two shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment.
