Nurse Supervisor RN Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and leadership to all on-duty nursing staff during non-business hours. Ensure proper staffing levels, monitor workflow, and assist with prioritizing patient care tasks. Address staff concerns and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Act as the highest-ranking on-site authority during after-hours and weekends. Make timely decisions related to patient care, staffing, safety, and operations. Collaborate with other departments when needed and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Offer clinical expertise and support in resolving patient care challenges. Assist with complex cases or difficult family situations. Handle call-ins or last-minute staffing changes, ensuring coverage and continuity of care.
  • Develops and maintains care standards.
  • Makes frequent rounds to note resident/patient conditions and to ensure nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
  • Gives and receives the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
  • Ensures assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, med. Cart, medication room, etc.), resident/patient care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
  • Provides direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs may dictate.
  • Ensures that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.
  • Informs nursing service personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment etc.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Nurse Supervisor RN Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and team development skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate to others.
  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.

Nurse Supervisor RN Education and Experience:

  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University.
  • Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Long-Term care and MDS experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
