The Weekend Remote Storage Engineer primarily manages and maintains storage systems, ensuring data availability and performance. In contrast, the Weekend Remote Data Backup Specialist focuses on backing up data and restoring it after failures. Both roles require technical certifications and are often found in similar industries, but their core responsibilities differ in system management versus data protection.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Remote Storage Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Remote Storage Engineer, you need a solid background in IT infrastructure, storage technologies (such as SAN, NAS, and cloud storage), and experience with troubleshooting and maintenance, typically backed by relevant certifications like CompTIA Storage+ or vendor-specific credentials. Familiarity with storage management tools (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE), remote monitoring systems, and incident ticketing platforms is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication enable you to resolve issues efficiently and collaborate with distributed teams. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring storage systems' reliability, data integrity, and seamless support during off-hours.

What are the typical responsibilities and challenges faced by a Weekend Remote Storage Engineer?

As a Weekend Remote Storage Engineer, your primary responsibilities include monitoring storage systems, performing routine maintenance, and resolving incidents or outages that occur outside regular business hours. You'll often work independently but will coordinate with on-call teams or escalate critical issues as needed. A key challenge is quickly diagnosing and resolving problems with limited direct supervision, requiring strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with remote management tools. This role also offers the opportunity to gain experience with various storage technologies and can serve as a stepping stone to more advanced infrastructure or cloud engineering positions.

What are Weekend Remote Storage Engineers?

Weekend Remote Storage Engineers are IT professionals responsible for managing and maintaining data storage systems during weekends, typically working remotely. Their duties include monitoring storage infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, performing backups, and ensuring data integrity and availability outside standard business hours. This role is crucial for organizations that require 24/7 data access and support, especially to address any urgent storage-related problems that may arise during weekends when regular staff may not be available. Weekend Remote Storage Engineers often work with cloud storage solutions, SAN/NAS systems, and enterprise backup technologies.

Every day shows the increasing need for low-cost, reliable, and safe energy sources. Solar and wind are now the most economic sources of electricity. The challenge is affordable energy storage. An electrical grid powered by renewables requires massive investments in energy storage technologies. Lithium-ion batteries have been deployed on the grid, but the world needs solutions that are lower cost with longer lifetime and better safety, and which are not limited by raw materials availability and foreign supply chains.

At Inlyte, We Are Driven By a Deep-seated Hope Based On Human Potential. Our Team Is Transforming The Proven Sodium Metal Chloride Battery Technology Into a Solution To Meet The Energy Needs Of Today. Made Of Iron And Sodium, Our Energy Storage Systems Are Built From Naturally Abundant And Inexpensive Raw Materials. Proven Benefits Include:

  • Low cost materials and manufacturing
  • Safe, durable in extreme temperatures, long-lifetime, with high round-trip efficiency
  • Domestically-sourced production without supply chain constraints

Inlyte Energy is backed by top tier VCs along with large industrial strategic investors and includes the pioneers and world experts on sodium metal chloride batteries on its team.

Role And Responsibilities

Inlyte Energy is hiring a hands-on, applications-oriented Head of Energy Storage Solutions to shape and execute our go-to-market strategies across utility, commercial & industrial, data center, and critical power sectors. This role is responsible for developing conceptual designs, interfacing with customers, and informing product and business strategy. This individual contributor role reports to Inlyteโ€™s Chief Commercial Officer and has near-term potential to grow into a team lead position as Inlyte scales. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to scale a technology backed by 40+ years of research in order to shape the electrical grid of tomorrow.

The Role Will Require 50% Travel, Both Domestic And International. We Have a Preference For Bay Area Candidates But Are Open To a Remote Position. For This Role You Will:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customer inquiries, technical discussions, and project scoping.
  • Design market and customer requirements for scalable battery system solutions, in collaboration with product engineering, using Inlyteโ€™s iron-sodium technology across diverse applications.
  • Lead development of technical proposals, RFI/RFP responses, customer presentations, and project specifications.
  • Identify and build commercial partnerships
  • Serve as an externally-facing thought leader for Inlyte, engaging with trade associations and standards committees, and representing the company at conferences.
  • Translate customer requirements into system architecture and product feedback for engineering teams.
  • Work closely with commercial and technical teams to inform pricing strategy and margin analysis.
  • Shape Inlyteโ€™s positioning in emerging segments like data center resilience and grid services.
  • Support early deployments with design, commissioning, and project execution guidance.
  • Lead retrospectives, document learnings, and scale customer success systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. in engineering or related technical field; MBA and advanced degree a plus.
  • 7+ years experience in energy storage, power systems, or distributed energy project development, or business development.
  • Experience with data center energy solutions.
  • Ability to lead conceptual design and customer conversations with minimal oversight.
  • Experience developing designs for energy storage and/or critical power applications.
  • Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory, interconnection, and incentive frameworks across U.S. markets.
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial or industrial energy projects.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment.
  • A champion of our Practices of Safety, Determination, Teamwork, Humility, and Joy.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with long duration energy storage business development.
  • Strong insight into go-to-market strategy, channel development, or solution selling.
  • International project development experience.

Benefits

  • Incentive stock options based on Bay Area comps regardless of location
  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance and short term disability (100% of employeeโ€™s insurance premium and 75% of dependents)
  • 40 hours of paid sick time
  • Hybrid commute option for Bay Area employees
  • Unlimited PTO policy
  • Compensation range for Bay Area: $173,000 - $215,000 depending on qualifications, location, and experience
