Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for professionals experienced in process engineering, manufacturing workflows, quality analysis, Lean/Six Sigma methods, root cause investigation, and structured engineering documentation processes.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on structured process review, workflow analysis, quality improvement documentation, FMEA review, statistical output assessment, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their engineering expertise to review realistic process improvement scenarios, evaluate technical requirements, prepare structured written outputs, and support accurate, evidence-based engineering workflow tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Process Documentation & Workflow Review

  • Review engineering scenarios involving process flow diagrams, SOPs, control points, required steps, and workflow documentation
  • Evaluate process documentation against defined requirements, sequence logic, control expectations, and source materials
  • Support structured review of SOPs, workflow maps, process standards, and documentation checklists
  • Identify missing steps, unclear controls, documentation gaps, and expected process review outcomes

Quality, Yield & Root Cause Analysis

  • Review scenarios involving yield analysis, defect rates, quality metrics, failure patterns, and structured investigation materials
  • Evaluate quality and yield outputs against documented data, expected calculations, and defined criteria
  • Support root cause review using methods such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, 8D, or related investigation frameworks

FMEA, Lean/Six Sigma & Improvement Support

  • Review FMEA materials, failure-mode checklists, project charters, kaizen reports, and improvement documentation
  • Evaluate Six Sigma writeups, SPC outputs, statistical results, and process improvement artifacts against defined requirements
  • Support structured review of control plans, risk rankings, mitigation steps, and improvement recommendations
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment across submitted work

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, quality improvement, continuous improvement, or related technical roles
  • Experience with one or more areas such as Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, root cause analysis, workflow documentation, yield analysis, defect analysis, or process improvement
  • Familiarity with methods such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, 8D, DMAIC, control plans, kaizen, process mapping, or statistical process control
  • Comfort reading and preparing engineering artifacts such as process flows, SOPs, FMEAs, project charters, kaizen reports, control plans, and quality analysis documents
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to explain engineering reasoning clearly
  • Ability to follow structured instructions and produce evidence-based work

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, quality engineering, or a related technical field is helpful
  • Equivalent practical experience in process improvement, manufacturing workflows, quality analysis, root cause investigation, or technical documentation review is also highly relevant

Nice to Have

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, ASQ certification, quality engineering credential, or equivalent process improvement background
  • Experience with SPC, FMEA, control plans, DMAIC, kaizen events, process audits, or quality improvement projects
