Job description

Overview of Responsibilities -
Provides exceptional and complete customer service, while ensuring the security, safety and well-being of the Company's patrons, licensees, employees and assets. Adheres to all Company service and operating standards, and fully complies with federal, state and local regulations.
Essential Job Duties -
  • Acts as a service 'ambassador' on property. Demonstrates a high quality courtesy, helpfulness and professionalism at all times.
  • Performs specific security duties in accordance with established procedures, to protect Parx Racing patrons, licensees, employees, facilities, grounds, property and assets.
  • Responsible for property access control to the backstretch at specific gates. The Security Officer is required to scan licensees' Racing Licenses and Vehicle Stickers at the gates and approve/deny entry to individuals.
  • Responsible to conduct barn and building walks on swing and grave shifts.
  • Responds immediately to emergencies to give necessary assistance to patrons, licensees, employees, and to protect the company's assets relative to fire, theft or burglary, assault and other security issues.
  • Follows procedures for activities including fire prevention, traffic control, protecting and patrolling the property, and investigations of accidents and suspected criminal activities.
  • Participates in testing and implementing emergency procedures, evacuation plans, etc. on a regular basis.
  • Works in partnership with the Surveillance Department to ensure protection of patrons, licensees, employees, and company funds and assets.
  • Prepares reports as required and directed by Security management.
  • Maintains crowd control and traffic flow on and around the property.
  • Handles patron/licensee complaints, and solicits the support of a supervisor as necessary.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications -
  1. High School Diploma or GED required.
  2. Must have excellent customer service skills, and strong teamwork skills.
  3. Must have ability to handle stressful, volatile situations with poise and confidence.
  4. Must be willing and able to work inside and outside in the elements. Must be able to run, walk, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, push, pull, lift, and carry weight for a full eight hour shift.
  5. Must be able to work all shifts, and weekends, holidays, big race days as required.
  6. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and through written communications. Must be knowledgeable of state and local laws and regulations.
