Job description

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Imaging Manager, this position produces optimal diagnostic images while providing excellent patient care. The incumbent is accountable for individualized patient care while in the Radiology Department.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families. The incumbent must also demonstrate the ability to work with the physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychosocial needs specific to the population being served and meet standards of quality as measured by the Unit/Department age specific competency standards.
The incumbent must competently operate imaging equipment and related machinery, verify and execute physicians' orders for diagnostic and therapeutic exams while ensuring the proper preparation for such exams and the safety and well being of patients during procedures. Other duties include, but are not limited to, billing, supplies stocking, file maintenance, medical charting, informed consent documentation, quality improvement studies, patient history/symptoms acquisition. Determines the best method of obtaining optimal examinations while ensuring patient safety; regulates patient flow, consults with Radiologists to determine contrast media and makes necessary corrections to improve image quality.
May be required to assist other modalities within the department or Renown Health System. The incumbent is required to perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic radiographic procedures of the human body utilizing radiographic principles according to the guidelines recommended by Merrill's Anatomy and Positioning reference manual and Renown Regional Medical Center Diagnostic Radiographic Department Policy and Procedure manual.
The Radiologic Technologist must demonstrate competency in the OR Suite, Trauma Suite and portable radiography without assistance on or before the 90 day evaluation. This will be documented by the Imaging Manager and will be an ongoing requirement that will be done annually with their evaluation under the guidance of Renown leadership.
This position does provide patient care.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of AMA approved hospital-based program.
Experience:
License(s):
Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire.
State of Nevada license for Medical Radiography.
Certification(s):
Must obtain AHA BLS certification within sixty (60) days of employment.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
