Job description

Audubon is currently seeking a Project Engineer to be part of a project team working onsite at a client's facility in Henning, IL. The Project Engineer will serve as the primary on-site resource for the facility acting as the representative coordinating with the home and office and plant personnel.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Areas of Responsibility will include:
  • Support capital project execution and day-to-day engineering needs in coordination with home and corporate engineering teams and on-site plant leadership.
  • Act as a liaison between corporate engineering, plant operations, plant maintenance, contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Track actions and schedule plant activities.
  • Report back and coordinate weekly with the home engineering team in New Orleans, LA.
  • Lead execution of small-to-mid size capital projects from concept through installation and startup with our office engineering and design team.
  • Maintain core project documentation (Action Items, Schedules, Cost Reports).
  • Develop preliminary project scopes, budgets, and schedules for capital projects and plant level initiatives.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors to specify, evaluate, and procure process and utility equipment.
  • Solicit and review bids from contractors (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.).
  • Develop bid tabs for client review and approval.
  • Manage contractor activities on-site, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Plan and coordinate project work around limited production downtime windows.
  • Support installation efforts, including frequent weekend work and extended hours during shutdowns.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to maintenance teams for troubleshooting, repairs, and system improvements.
  • Track project progress, communicate status updates, and escalate risks or delays as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position:
  • 2+ years experience in Project Engineering or Lead Engineering roles.
  • Engineering degree required with Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Construction Management/ Project Engineering backgrounds considered with relevant experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus
