The main difference between a Weekend Product Designer and a Part-Time Product Designer lies in their work schedule and flexibility. Weekend Product Designers focus on projects primarily during weekends, often working on a freelance or contract basis. Part-Time Product Designers have a flexible schedule with fewer hours per week, which may include weekdays or weekends. Both roles require similar skills and credentials but differ mainly in scheduling and work arrangement.

Are weekend product designers still in demand?

Weekend product designers are still in demand as companies seek flexible, part-time design support for projects, especially in startups and digital agencies. Skills in user experience, prototyping tools, and remote collaboration are valuable in this role, which often requires a strong portfolio and familiarity with design software like Figma or Adobe XD.

Do weekend product designers get paid well?

Weekend product designers typically earn less than full-time designers, with pay often based on project scope and experience. Compensation can vary widely depending on the company, location, and the designer's skill level, but they generally receive lower hourly rates compared to full-time roles. Many weekend designers work freelance or part-time, which influences their earning potential.

Job description

About Teleskope
Teleskope is redefining data security for the AI era with the only dedicated platform that combines precise visibility with automated remediation. Teleskope continuously scans, catalogs and classifies data in-motion and at-rest while automating policy-based actions, helping organizations proactively manage data sprawl while securely enabling AI adoption.
Fresh off our $25 million Series A round, Teleskope is entering a high-growth phase backed by top-tier investors and exceptional product-market fit.
About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Product Designer to join our team. As the sole product designer at Teleskope, you will own end-to-end design across all of Teleskope's products. You will collaborate closely with our Product Management and Engineering leads to influence product direction and ship high quality experiences to our customer base.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3+ days in-office in New York City.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead the design process for 0->1 products, balancing user experience, feasibility, and business needs.
  • Translate ambiguous, complex and technical problems into intuitive experiences.
  • Conduct user research to deeply understand our users' needs and inform product strategy and design decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with PMs, Engineering, Data Science, and customer-facing teams to help define the product direction and roadmap, and translate designs to implementation.
  • Build prototypes and lead activities to communicate product behavior to stakeholders and gain internal and external alignment.
  • Own, maintain and expand our design system and practices, holding our product to a high bar for design quality and craft.
  • From time to time, support design needs across the company, including Marketing & Brand Design.

About you:
  • 3+ years of experience in product design.
  • Experience designing for data intensive, complex B2B workflows (data security experience is a plus).
  • Comfortable owning design end-to-end and working as sole designer in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous and technical user needs to concrete requirements and intuitive design solutions.

What you'll get:
  • An opportunity to lead and evolve design at an early-stage startup in a fast-growing market.
  • Space to have a huge impact on the UI of a leading product in the data security space.
  • A beautiful office in NYC's Financial District, with breakfast and snacks provided daily, and weekly catered lunch.
  • Flexible vacation and time off.
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
  • Health, vision, dental, 401k and more benefits, heavily subsidized by Teleskope.
