Adaptability and problem-solving are key, as unexpected supply issues can arise and require quick, effective decisions to avoid delays in production or service delivery. Job description

The Procurement Manager - Indirect Spend is accountable for the strategic management of Maker's Pride's indirect spend portfolio, with direct ownership across three core category pillars: Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO); Facilities Management; and Corporate Services. This role leads the full category management lifecycle - from spend analysis and sourcing strategy through supplier relationship management, contract governance, and performance measurement - across manufacturing sites and corporate offices.
The Procurement Manager will serve as a trusted business partner to cross-functional stakeholders, bringing market expertise, commercial rigor, and a continuous improvement mindset to reduce total cost of ownership, mitigate supply risk, and elevate service levels across indirect categories. This position reports to the Director of Procurement and plays a key leadership role in building procurement maturity and value delivery across the organization.
This is a hybrid position. This person must be willing to come into the office 4 days a week (one week each month can be remote).
This role has full procurement accountability for the following:
Category Pillar
Scope Includes
MRO
Maintenance parts & consumables, repair services, industrial supplies, tooling, safety equipment, OEM/aftermarket parts management, VMI/storeroom optimization
Facilities Management
Janitorial & sanitation services, HVAC, electrical & mechanical maintenance, waste management, pest control, landscaping, utilities management
Corporate Services
Office supplies & furniture, business travel & expense, fleet, professional services, print & marketing services, temporary staffing, employee amenities
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Management
  • Own and drive the end-to-end category management strategy for MRO, Facilities Management, and Corporate Services - from baseline spend analysis through strategic sourcing, contracting, and ongoing supplier governance
  • Build and maintain category profiles, including spend mapping, supply market analysis, risk assessment, and total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling
  • Develop multi-year category roadmaps aligned to operational priorities, cost targets, and business growth plans
  • Benchmark category performance against industry best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Partner with Finance to establish spend baselines, validate savings, and align category plans to annual and long-range financial budgets

Strategic Sourcing
  • Lead and execute competitive sourcing events (RFx, reverse auctions, negotiations) for priority indirect categories, leveraging cross-functional teams and market intelligence
  • Drive consolidation of fragmented supplier bases to maximize leverage, reduce complexity, and improve service consistency
  • Identify and capture cost reduction, cost avoidance, and value engineering opportunities across managed spend

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
  • Serve as the primary procurement contact for strategic indirect suppliers across MRO, Facilities, and Corporate Services categories
  • Establish and manage a formal SRM program: define KPIs and SLAs, conduct regular business reviews, resolve performance gaps, and develop joint value creation plans
  • Manage supply risk across the indirect portfolio, including supplier financial health monitoring, business continuity planning, and contingency sourcing
  • Drive supplier development activities to improve quality, delivery, and innovation across the supply base

Contract & Compliance Management
  • Lead contract negotiations and manage the full contract lifecycle for indirect categories, including MSAs, SOWs, and pricing agreements
  • Ensure compliance with Maker's Pride procurement policies, processes, and preferred supplier programs across all sites
  • Maintain accurate contract repositories and proactively manage renewals, escalations, and expiration timelines
  • Bring governance and controls to critical third-party relationships; ensure supplier agreements include appropriate risk, liability, and performance provisions

Stakeholder Partnership & Business Engagement
  • Act as a strategic procurement business partner to Operations, Maintenance, Facilities, HR, Finance, and other functional leaders
  • Translate business requirements into procurement strategies; engage stakeholders early in sourcing processes to ensure category strategies reflect operational needs and site-level priorities
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional category teams to drive alignment, decision-making, and execution of sourcing initiatives
  • Communicate category performance, savings delivery, and risk updates to leadership through structured reporting and business reviews

Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Management
  • Own and optimize the end-to-end P2P process for indirect categories, from purchase requisition and PO issuance through goods/service receipt, invoice matching, and payment resolution
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Finance, and IT to ensure P2P workflows in SAP are properly configured, compliant, and aligned with procurement policy for indirect spend
  • Drive adoption of preferred purchasing channels (catalogs, blanket POs, standing orders) to reduce maverick spend and improve process efficiency across sites
  • Monitor and improve P2P compliance metrics including PO coverage rate, on-contract spend, and requisition-to-PO cycle times; report results to stakeholders and leadership
  • Identify and resolve invoice discrepancies, three-way match failures, and supplier payment disputes in coordination with AP and site operations teams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline P2P processes, reduce transaction costs, and improve the buying experience for internal stakeholders
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of P2P technology enhancements, including eCatalog expansion, electronic invoicing, and system integrations

Analytics & Reporting
  • Conduct ongoing spend analytics to identify sourcing opportunities, monitor compliance, and track category performance trends
  • Develop and maintain category dashboards, procurement scorecards, and supplier performance reports
  • Leverage SAP and analytics tools to produce actionable insights supporting strategic decision-making and budget management

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. CPSM, CSCP, or CPM certification preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of progressive procurement experience, with demonstrated ownership of indirect category management (MRO, Facilities Management, or Corporate Services) in a manufacturing or food & beverage environment. Track record of delivering measurable cost savings and supplier performance improvements at the category manager level
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SAP (MM/SRM modules preferred); experience with procurement or ERP platforms required
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, data modeling, spend analytics)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word; experience with spend analytics or eSourcing platforms (e.g., Coupa, Jaggaer, Ariba) a plus
    • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools preferred
  • Core Competencies:
  • Deep knowledge of indirect procurement best practices, category strategy development, and total cost of ownership analysis across MRO, facilities, and services spend
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to structure complex supplier agreements and drive favorable commercial outcomes
  • Advanced capability to analyze large spend datasets, identify savings opportunities, and translate data into actionable procurement strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to build alignment, navigate competing priorities, and lead without direct authority across cross-functional teams
  • Proven track record managing strategic supplier relationships, including formal SRM programs, business reviews, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Skilled at identifying, assessing, and mitigating supply chain and contract risk within indirect categories
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident presenting to senior leadership and articulating procurement value in business terms
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent sourcing projects, stakeholder engagements, and category initiatives with competing deadlines
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing or CPG environments, including regulatory considerations, production schedules, and site-level operational requirements
  • The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $97,210-$133,663/year. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
