Description
Position Summary
Nelson Enterprise is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to provide professional nursing services to the inmate population for our client, FCI Mendota. This role supports the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) by delivering safe, competent, and timely nursing care in a secure correctional environment. This job is part of a Federal BPA contract and will have intermittent needs.
When called, the shifts will typically be:
  • Eight (8) hours per day
  • Five (5) days per week
  • Typical shift hours include:
  • 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
    Shifts include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The schedule may be adjusted based on institutional needs and will not normally exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Key Responsibilities

The PRN Registered Nurse will:
  • Provide direct nursing care within the Health Services Department
  • Support medical operations for an inmate population in a correctional setting
  • Follow facility policies, procedures, and all security requirements
  • Respond appropriately to medical needs and emergencies
  • Maintain professionalism and clinical standards at all times

Requirements
  • Active and unincumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license from any state
  • Three (3) or more years of nursing experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment
  • CPR/Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
  • Proof of Education and credentials
  • Current Competencies/CE credits
  • The ability to pass a Federal Background check
