The workload can vary each weekend, depending on patient census and acuity, so adaptability is important. These roles often involve collaborating with a leaner weekend team, requiring strong teamwork and autonomy. What is a Weekend PRN RN?

A Weekend PRN RN (As Needed Registered Nurse) is a nursing position where the nurse works primarily on weekends and on an as-needed basis. These roles are typically found in hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities that require additional weekend staffing. PRN nurses do not usually have a set schedule and may be called to fill in for staff shortages. This role offers flexibility but may not guarantee a certain number of hours.
