Job description

Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for working with P&IDs, creating electrical schematics, control panel drawings, and managing cable runs in addition to BOMs. After these are released to fabrication and as panels are being built, the engineer will transition to formal HMI and PLC programming, ensuring functionality by dropping and testing programs. The programs developed will control operations such as opening and closing valves or managing pressure sensors. Additionally, the engineer will write all Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) details.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control panel drawings.
  • Oversee cable runs and BOMs for projects.
  • Conduct HMI and PLC programming to ensure all systems function correctly.
  • Write and verify programs to manage operations such as valve control and pressure sensors.
  • Draft detailed FAT and SAT documentation.
  • Ensure successful completion of factory and site acceptance testing.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming and automation.
  • Experience with HMI, electrical, and controls engineering.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC and Siemens PLC systems.
  • Experience in electrical engineering and design.
  • Familiarity with control system design and ladder logic.
  • Experience with electrical control panel design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in PLC and HMI programming.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience creating electrical schematics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in control panel design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience writing FAT and SAT documentation

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69/hr.
