Job description

We are seeking a highly organized, efficient, and multi-functional phlebotomist with excellent communication skills.ย ย The ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment is required.ย  The candidate must possess skills in following policies and procedures, commitment to tasks and attention to detail in decision-making and problem-solving.ย 

Job Responsibilities:
Phlebotomists are responsible for collecting blood specimens and interacting with patients fromย all age groups,ย with a broad rangeย inย degree of difficulty.ย ย Working jointly with all departments in the hospital and laboratory,ย phlebotomists are responsible for providing efficient and timely collections for patients in order to provide excellent care.

Specific Job Duties:
-ย Primarily responsible for the collection of bloodย specimens for the clinical laboratory.
- Computer test order entry in our outpatientย settings, specimen collection data entryย andย assistingย caregivers with patient reports.
- Preparing a laboratory for inspection byย regulatory agencies.
- Monitoring, maintaining, ordering and stockingย laboratory supplies.
- Providing customer service to answer questions from patientย providers regarding patient results or sampleย collection techniques or questions.
Laboratory Training/Continuing Education:
All employees are required to attend hospital orientation on the initial start date and then will proceed to the laboratoryย to undergo an extensive training programย which covers all areas of the phlebotomy position.ย  We provide a one-on-one approach to this process, which typically is completed within the firstย 1 to 2ย months of hire.
Annual continuing education is provided by Willis-Knighton in an effort to maintainย competency in phlebotomy skills, safety and general laboratory areas. This alsoย provides employeesย CEUs to maintain certification requirements.
Job Qualifications:
-Highย school diploma or equivalent
-Completion of a phlebotomy training program and must have a current license.
-Phlebotomy certification is required.
-Computer experience and some knowledge ofย medical terminology is preferred.
Position Specific Information:ย 

Thurs-Sat 1800-0630/Sun-Wed 1900-0630 with rotation in the weekend phlebotomy on-call schedule.
