Overhead Crane Operator Overview:

Safety is paramount in this position, emphasizing the critical importance of your skills in maintaining a secure environment for yourself, your coworkers, and the public. Overhead Crane Operator Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, and solid or heavy material, using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling, electromagnet, or bucket.
  • Observes load hookup and determines the safety of the load.
  • Manipulates or depresses crane controls, such as pedals, levers, and buttons to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanism.
  • Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of detects or malfunctions.
  • Prepares daily inspection reports.
  • Must adhere to all company safety/OSHA rules and regulations.
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
  • Perform non-essential duties as needed.

Overhead Crane Operator Qualifications:
  • High School education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a crane operator.
  • Must be able to pass company certification tests.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.

Overhead Crane Operator Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel frequently during the day.
  • Must have excellent vision either naturally or with correction.
  • Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty, noisy work environment.

This role is classified as safety sensitive. Candidates must show the capacity to proactively initiate, effectively lead, and consistently uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards. Compliance with this requirement is a fundamental condition for employment.
