About Us
Global Impact Group LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and ISO 9001 / ISO 17100 certified provider of interpretation and translation services. We deliver secure, high-quality language support in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.
We are seeking Maymay Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Maymay dialects, is southern Somalia language spoken primarily in Somalia and among diaspora communities, and is often required in asylum, refugee, and immigration proceedings.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Maymay ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
  • Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and legal contexts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Maymay and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, medical, or government preferred).
  • Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
