Job description


Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Construction Supervisor is responsible for their assigned projects and the Field Techs for your assigned projects. The Construction Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Construction Manager in managing the job functions outlined below. The Construction Supervisor will be responsible for managing network projects within Central to Eastern Nebraska.

What you will be doing:

  • Working with the Construction Manager and Engineering teams in reviewing the project design of long-haul, metro network, fiber to the Cellular tower, Business and Carrier customer projects.
  • Review and fully understand the scope of projects, review, understand and follow permit requirements, Jurisdictional and Carrier contracts and agreements, and the overall requirements of each project.
  • Assist in creating and managing project route design work plans, schedules, project work Scopes and Contractor Bid Documents, monitoring and managing the project budget, scheduling and meeting project timelines, project materials, incoming and outgoing shipments, handling customer expectations, managing the Contract Construction teams, and interfacing with jurisdictions and customers.
  • Work with Field Technicians through field production reports and contractor invoicing
  • Assign duties and manage Field Technicians assigned for your projects. This will require constant travel to the field in working on site with the Field Technicians and Contractors.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational aspects with Field Technicians and Contractors through all projects to ensure quality installations are being performed as well as on-time schedule performance and under budget completion.
  • Manage the scope and delivery of the project, including serving as a technical expert at interpreting the specifications of the project.
  • Communicate requirements and specifications to the project staff and assist with any questions related to the technology, equipment, and design requirements.
  • Serve as the project spokesperson, when necessary, by developing relationships and facilitating communication, updates, and meetings with internal coworkers and external customers.
  • Ensure agreements, contracts, permits, and authorization of compliance are in place and project acceptable.
  • Maintain day-to-day communication with the Field Technicians, other departments and other company management teams.
  • Produce quality results in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Represent Viaero professionally to satisfy immediate customer needs and to foster return business.
  • Respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and the general public.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance according to company policies.
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role and those of the project team.
  • Adhere to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles.

What you will need for this Position:

  • 3 + years required in fiber optic construction management or a supervisory role. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of Telecommunications construction and engineering practices
  • Project budget creation and management, project scheduling and tracking, project finance, cost reporting, and field office operations
  • Solid business acumen and experience in managing large telecom construction projects
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Solid experience using MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel as needed and as required to manage field operations projects and teams, which will include overnight stays throughout the network.
  • Availability to adjust your schedule and work at a moment’s notice in the event of a network need or outage. Work hours can differ from project task or requirement. Nights and Weekend Work may be required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need of current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment processes, including criminal background, motor vehicle record and substance test. Substance tests follow federal DOT guidelines.
